    Challenge

    A bumper beam is the first part to absorb crash energy, and its strength class keeps climbing. At 1310MPa, cold stamping shows severe cracking and springback, while hot stamping carries heavy equipment and energy costs.

    Approach

    Progressive roll-form bending shapes 1310MPa steel cold, and spot welding closes the section. The partner factory — with a library of roughly 100 section profiles — proposes energy-absorbing section designs from the drawing stage.

    Outcome

    In mass production as bumper reinforcements for automotive customers — meeting crash requirements with far less equipment burden than hot stamping.
